Support un Magazine with a subscription
When we first talked about doing this issue together, care was thrown out as a theme early on. It stuck. It connected in multiple ways with our individual areas of research, practice, politics, and with our living. People had a lot to say. We were sending edits back and forth with writers when news of a coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan saw anti-Chinese racism flood mainstream and social media, emboldening everyday racists on the street. We were finalising the last few image credits when global infection rates began climbing and lockdowns in cities across the world came into effect. As we write this, we see them in our future too. All the pieces in this issue were written prior to the pandemic. A time capsule of care pre-COVID-19.
-- Editorial, un Magazine 14.1
Co-edited by Elena Gomez and Rosie Isaac, the current issue of un Magazine is presciently themed ‘care’, the importance of which is only amplified by the current pandemic. Due to the gallery closures as a result of the COVID-19 quarantine, we are unable to distribute the magazine via our usual channels. And so we ask that you please consider subscribing. For the price of a beer, or half a week's worth of coffee, we will send this issue and the next directly to you. Moreover, your support will go directly towards keeping un Magazine sustainable in these uncertain times so that we can continue to pay our writers and support local art. PLUS only the print version includes a very special, limited edition fold-out cover poster by the incredible Katie West!
