un Magazine 13.1: 'We Got 'im'
Join us for the launch of un Magazine 13.1: 'We Got 'im'. Co-edited by Bobuq Sayed and Hugh Childers with Assistant Editor Jo Pugh, this issue brings together works that collectively interrogate historicity and articulate Nine Eleven as a multiplicity. Underscored by an increasingly militarised context, we have works that complicate and play with recent history and ask us to excavate it aesthetically.
When: Friday 17 May
Where: C3 Contemporary Art Space, Abbotsford Convent, 1 St Heliers Street
With screenings from Union Gaucha Production, contributor readings and Night Dives DJing.
Featured contributors: Freya Rose, Destiny Deacon, Holly Keys, Gilbert Caluya, Hoda Afshar and Behrouz Boochani, Dale Harding, Natalie Ironfield and Nayuka Gorrie, Nur Shkembi, Carol Que, Bahar Sayed, Union Guacha Productions with Jeff Preiss, Ceri Hann, Will Kollmorgen, Bridget Chappell, Zacry Spears, Anabelle Lacroix, Safdar Ahmed, Ava Amedi, Tim Marvin.
'Printed in un Magazine 13.1 are security threats, alternative histories, texts written from a distance, terrorist subjectivities, paranoid infidels, treason, experimental detonations and contemporary art practice. Many of the contributions displace the rudimentary ethical demands of making work within a context produced by violence. Departing from a logic of mourning, these artists and writers engage with the flux in more material, energetic, social and semiotic ways...'
