un Projects is excited to announce that we are calling for proposals for an un Extended Editor-in-Residence, a new ten month opportunity which will take place throughout 2022. The un Extended Editor-in-Residence will be supported by the General Manager and un Project’s board to commission ten online reviews or artist profiles to be published on un Extended – un Project’s online publishing initiative. 

The opportunity is intended to support early career arts writers, artists or publishing enthusiasts to develop content that critically engages with exhibitions from the small-to-medium scale arts sector through the commissioning of substantial exhibition reviews and artist profiles on important early career and underrepresented artists.   

un Extended Editor-in-Residence role involves: 

  • – Commissioning ten reviews or artist/collective profiles that feature exhibitions from the small to medium sector and early career or under recognized artists in consultation with un’s board to be published monthly
  • – Editing reviews and providing feedback to authors with support from un Project’s Board 
  • – Participating in un Magazine’s Editorial Committee meetings
  • – Working alongside the General Manager assisting with un Magazine launches, distribution and public programs

The Editor-in-Residence will:

  • – Receive $500 per commissioned text
  • – Have an allocated budget to commission the ten texts online
  • – Receive mentoring and support from un Project’s Board members

  • – Your previous engagement with writing, editing and contemporary art
  • – Five artists, collectives or exhibitions you would like to profile/review
  • – Five arts writers you would like to commission
  • – Current artistic, theoretical or historical interests

All short-listed applicants will be invited for an interview with members of un Project’s board.

un Magazine encourages applications from writers and artists who identify as Aboriginal and First Nations, as queer and/or trans, as having a disability, people of colour, and people of all genders.

un Projects does not currently have a physical office. As such this position will be required to work remotely. Applications Australia-wide are encouraged.
