un Projects is coming to Meanjin/Brisbane this Saturday! ‘Care, Who Cares? is a one-day symposium hosted by @griffithuniversityartmuseum and @ima_brisbaneexploring the murky notion and rhetoric of care, coinciding with the exhibition ‘Duty of Care’.
Incoming un Magazine guest editors Tara Heffernan (18.1 Badaud) and Joel Sherwood Spring (18.2 After-care) will be presenting respectively, and we will be launching the digital version of the magazines!
The symposium will include perspectives from artists, academics and writers, exploring institutional and professional care, care and gender, care and race, care and medicine, artists and healers and extreme care. A keynote speech will be presented by Catherine Liu, Professor of Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Irvine and author of ‘Virtue Hoarders: The Case Against the Professional Managerial Class’ (2021).
Other Speakers include Stephanie Berlangieri, Angela Goddard, Robert Leonard, Charla Strelan, Cassie Thornton.
The symposium will be followed by official opening celebrations of ‘Duty of Care: Part Two’ at GUAM from 3.30pm – 5pm.
